Home-Grown: Recipes From the Garden
Living in a fifth floor apartment unit in an urban cityscape, there are few things more satisfying than getting to build a delicious meal using fresh ingredients grown at home. When my partner decided to go all-out on a balcony garden last summer, I knew that I needed to create an accompanying recipe book, filled with the same joy and cheer that our little patch of green provided.
Home-Grown is a compact recipe book measuring 8x8” and includes an introduction, table of contents, gardening timeline table, and ten delightful home recipes. Typographic and color choices were made to create a playful and lighthearted, but not juvenile, mood throughout. In addition to bright food photography, simple vector illustrations are used to create graphic elements in the book, in a style that nods to the whimsy and texture of risograph printmaking.
